Abstract
Rail Flaw Detection has an important part to play in ensuring the safety of the world’s railroads. Recent accidents caused by broken rails have focused attention on the technologies that enable the detection of flaws in railroad rail. This paper reviews the technologies currently employed, along with examples of recent field applications. Some of the ongoing advancements and options for the future are also discussed.
