Test of a Systemic Model
Modern organizations increasingly face innovation challenges. Product innovation is a major growth factor for contemporary organizations (Bharadwaj & Menon, 2000) and, at the same time, the use of the Internet has major implications for marketing and distribution of a large variety of organizational products and services (Richard & Chandra, 2005; Song & Zahedi, 2005).Innovation and creativity in Web design are, therefore, important elements for the effective interaction with customers and other stakeholders (Richard, 2005). Often,modern organizations use teams in order to design the most attractive and innovative Web sites. Among the factors driving team creativity, team diversity and team interaction processes are certainly the most important ones (Brophy, 2006; Hoegl & Gemuenden, 2001;Kurtzberg, 2005; Kurtzberg & Amabile, 2001; Taggar, 2002; West, 2002; West & Anderson, 1996). Theorizing on the impact of these two antecedents on team creativity shows that different attributes of team diversity, as well as different team processes, have a differential impact on creativity. |
